Quezon City – In line with the Bureau of Animal Industry’s (BAI) commitment to safeguard public health through the control and elimination of animal rabies, BAI through the National Rabies Prevention and Control Committee (NRPCC) will celebrate World Rabies Day on September 28, 2016.
The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) will be celebrating its Founding Anniversary from February 29-March 4, 2016.This year marks the 86th Founding Anniversary of the BAI with the theme " Gearing Towards a More Vibrant and Competitive Animal Industry in 2020."
The National Rabies Prevention and Control Committee (NRPCC) chaired by the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) will hold a Rabies Awareness Month Kick-off Activity on March 2, 2016 at the Muntinlupa City Sports Complex.
With this year’s theme “End Rabies, Now Na!," the activity aims to strengthen the national campaign to control and further eliminate the disease in the country. This will also serve as a venue to provide proper knowledge on the prevention and management of Rabies.
The Department of Agriculture- Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI) in partnership with the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) and Animal Kingdom Foundation, Inc ( AKF) will launch the National Action Plan to Eliminate the Trade of Dogs for Human Consumption ( NAPOA) as part of the celebration of the Animal Welfare Week on September 30, 2015 at the Ciudad Christhia Resort, San Mateo, Rizal.

It also aims to increase public awareness on the importance of vaccinating dogs against rabies.
